Stories guide us to empathy. Also, science proves that stories sync our brain. Literally.

Science shows we make sense of our world through stories.

Ohad et al. (2023) showed engagement with a narrative synchronizes listeners' responses in regions involved in mentalizing, reward, working memory and attention.

“As humans, we think in stories—stories that allow us to feel and share emotions” (Breithaupt (2025).

I love the stories and the science. I was the crazy kid who loved libraries and book stores. I still do. (I grew up in libraries. My mother worked as a librarian.)

I still never planned to become a novelist. I wanted to be an astronaut (with zero talent).
